Festival review: Motocultor day 2 (St-Nolff, Bretagne, France - august 15th 2015)

(english will follow)

Motocultor Festival – Jour 2 (15 août 2015 – St-Nolff, Bretagne, France)

Motocultor Festival - Day 2 (August 15, 2015 - St Nolff, Brittany, France)

After spending the first day exploring, Day 2 promises to be more trash and death metal and I will be in very familiar ground.  A beautiful sunny and festive day awaits us Motocultor.

The day begins in strength with Arcania band. This band makes really good trash death metal which, at times, makes me think of Trivium (who will be on stage on the third day).  What could be better for a very rhythmic and powerful revival for all festival goers who celebrated part of the night? Then I took the direction to the Supositor stage were the trashers of Crisix from Spain brings us an old school trash metal of excellent quality. The band members are all smiling and having fun on stage. The band makes us head banging and despite the small stage, was able to appropriate it completely.  We had solo with punches and frenzied rhythm, very shrill voice of the singer; trash as we like.  It is now the turn of Avulsed to storm the stage and give us a performance tinted with brutality and strong powerful, dark at times, death metal. Blast beats at will with at the same time, despite the brutality of the music, a certain dynamic rhythm. It was a successful performance. Avulsed convinced me.

CRISIX

On this day 2 of Motocultor, we have the right to a beautiful sunny and warm day which further complements the pleasure of walking on the site and meet wonderful people. Now is the turn of Kronos French band to take position on the Dave Mustage with their brutal death metal. Whether it is the songs The Bringers of Disorder or Mashkhith for opening the ball, brutality and technicality is really there. The singer who really uses a good growling is so powerful that at times he has almost devilish look. It was a very good performance.

AVULSED

Angelus Apatrida, that I love and dreamed of seeing on stage, is now a realized wish. This band comes from Spain and officiates in some trash metal peeping between the Bay Area and the European style, which is a nice mixture. The band enjoys a powerful sound and has the crowd in his pocket. Whether from the new album Hidden Evolution or the Give E'm War album, all of the most powerful and trash songs were played, to my delight. The band members are smiling and clearly demonstrate their pleasure to be at Motocultor for the umpteenth time. So far, this was one of the most popular and effective performance of the day.  It is wearing a Cowboy hat that the singer of One Last Shot entered the Dave Mustage stage on a stained metal Rock 'n' Roll, still pretty powerful. The band has a beautiful repertoire to offer us and on the scenic side; it's simple, but everything flows perfectly.

ONE LAST SHOT

Everyone who has ever heard or seen, or even listen to Tankard will know that it is a band to be taken lightly, not on the musical side, but because the musicians of the band have crazy fun on stage and that's exactly what happened on the Supositor stage. Musically; it’s perfection. An old school German trash that is familiar. But it is more on the scenic side that we must rejoice because Tankard gives us laughter, joy and, as usual, a singer who likes to show us his beautiful beer belly. This was a show that I'm not ready to forget, because all of the elements to make it a perfect concert were there. Sodom continued the day on to the Dave Mustage stage. Of course, here, we already know what kind of trash we will be entitled by the three members of the band. Several classics are played. The band pushes even the audacity to play a classic Rock'n'Roll that is Surfin 'Bird and believe me the crowd is completely conquered and devotes itself to head bang and in mosh pit at will. Everything is there. There is a great banner with the image of the band that covers the back of the stage and the band members, although they are only three, occupies the whole scene to the delight of your host here present.

TANKARD

After seeing it at Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello (large North American festival that takes place at the same time as the Hellfest) last June, it was Carcass turn to step onto the the Dave Mustage stage. Everything is there, great white banner with tools effects and unlike the last times I saw them, the band enjoys a good schedule planning with more appropriate lighting. It begins with Unfit for Human Consumption song, which is to be preceded by the hello in French. This was a very nice respect mark from Carcass to the fans of Motocultor. We have the right to songs like This Mortal Coil, Exhume to Consume and lots of classics from the band's beautiful discography. The crowd is completely unchained and has fun at the fair as thief. It was a performance that will remain in all the Carcass fans memories.

I ended my day with none other than Death DTA band which is a form of tribute to the work of Chuck Schuldiner. The lead singer looks like Chuck a lot. On drums, we have none other than Gene Hoglan. So you can be sure that the power was present on the percussion side. Classics like Symbolic song are played majestically. It is a show full of memories that the fans of the deceased band Death relish with joy and strongly demonstrate it in constant mosh pit. Unfortunately the evening was not over, but the damn time difference continues to catch me. I had to miss because of fatigue, Brujeria and God Seed shows.

LA QUÉBEC-MÉTAL TENTE

This was a second day that went superbly well with quality bands and perfect weather. To date, the Motocultor proves that it's not the size that counts, but the quality. And here is what we have the right to see and hear, if we exclude some small incidents either because of the great heat or minor injuries due to the mosh pit. It is another day where I say « mission accomplished ».
