Sacrificed Alliance is a band from Montreal South Shore, more specifically from Longueuil, who officiates in a widespread gender in Quebec, that is to say Melodic Death Metal.  In 2014, they gave us a first taste of their talent with the E.P. Our Blessing and in 2015, a single (which is featured on this album) entitled: The Price of Innocence which will surprise many (read the next paragraph). But finally after five years, the first full album, Withering Synergy was born. Little note aside; the band is composed of six members and includes keyboards in its Melodic Death Metal.  But let’s stop talking about the group for now and let's see what is in this first long awaited album.

It begins with a long introduction which is called Crépuscule. It is a great intro that could easily be one of the soundtracks for a TV series such as Games of Thrones. Some French Spoken World takes place that automatically brings us in the next song, Moonlight.  We sense the ubiquitous keyboard that gives a relaxed tone, without departing from the Melodic Death Metal. Even at times in this piece, I feel the influence of Children of Bodom. It promises for the rest of the work! The End of the Endless comes just as festive; the mix of melody and brutality of the voice is a masterpiece in my ears. The guitars have a frenzied rhythm and again the keyboard gives a great both melodic Death Metal and Folk atmosphere to the song.  The Price of Innocence is no stranger to me, because I had the chance to hear it from the mid 2015, except that here it's completely night and day between the single and the album version. We immediately feel that the song received a power cure that suits it perfectly. It is always so heavy and effective musically. The growl is majestic so is the atmosphere created by the complicity between the keyboard and guitars. Tale of a Lunatic Mortal - Dusk-Psychosis-Exhaustion is significantly more powerful and heavy in its atmosphere; dark voice, heavy guitars in the background and a more discreet than previous keyboard parts. The grandiose keyboard solo as the bell sounds here and there, make sure the song is as heavy and powerful as standard in addition to being a Death Metal. Vers un Abysse Astral is much darker in its approach from the beginning, resembling the Death Metal mixed with melodic Black Metal. Everything changes very quickly in a more Folk atmosphere with French Spoken Word within the same song.  Again the mixture between the keyboard and the guitar is simply delicious. The song Across the Murky Marsh comes back on the power side. The song is still atmospheric, but does not prevent the guitar from being supercharged, heavy, fast and direct.  We always feel that the keyboard takes a prominent place and creates a unique atmosphere. A Dying Star, whatever people can say, draws his influences directly from Children of Bodom. All of the aspects are there; so you can immediately know that it has influenced Sacrificed AllianceSerene Winds & Fading Colors begins only with guitars. In this song, we can ear at times, more clean vocals mixed with growl. There are always mixtures of style between Melodic Death Metal and Folk Metal in the mood. Nothing to say except that it is a beautiful piece with great atmosphere here and there. Fimbulvetr , which means in Scandinavian language, Great Winter is the most epic song on the album with those nine minutes. The beginning is really powerful, dark and the fast guitar riffs throughout the song are damn effective. On the side of the drums; we are gasping for air so its effectiveness is flawless. Despite the length of the song, there is no dead time. It is a real Power and melodic Death Metal masterpiece! The album ends with the song Le Cirque de l’Angoisse. The beginning is acoustic and soft. Warning, this is a trap, because the song is not designed to make you sleep. On the contrary, even after one minute of play, it invites you to the circus ... the metal circus. Here, we are treated to a power ten song, extremely heavy. Everything is there; ultra heavy guitars, supercharged and fast drums and bass, ultra present keyboard. This makes a beautiful ending to the album.

Naturally one cannot deny that the main influence of Sacrificed Alliance is Children of Bodom so that we feel it in the songs. But it’s not a copy either, as the band still brings its own touch and originality. The production of the album is really powerful and solid. What makes us say that despite a debut album, Sacrificed Alliance already aspires to play in the big leagues. Whether it is on the side of the vocal or the instruments as a whole, each piece remains strong from beginning to end and all can aspire to be played live on stage. You will notice that the cover, which is beautifully done, by the way, is completely stripped of any title or band name, demonstrating that the group wants to put the songs forward more than the visual aspect. This album is a real Melodic Death Metal album that really stands out from all other bands who officiate in the same vein here in Quebec.
